Livestock Services

The S. Andrea Frontier Station is a modern and appropriately equipped border infrastructure for the transit and resting of livestock.

The entire structure dedicated to the stabling as well as the various services concerning the livestock in transition are controlled by the Health Authorities. The area destined to stabling covers some 15,000 m2 and includes the Resting Area and the Stables.




Resting Area

Resting area for the livestock in transition as provided for by the EC Reg. n. 1255/97, n. recognition EC 08/PS.

4 stables of which:

  • 3 equipped to accommodate 300 horses and 150 cattle
  • 1 to accommodate 1,400 sheep, offering watering and feeding as well as washing and disinfection of the vehicles as provided for by the European regulation concerning animal welfare

Stables

Livestock collection and outward sorting to different destinations. Also possible watering and feeding, identification for eventual loading on other vehicle, issue of Mod. M4.

4 stables of which:

  • 1 stable to accommodate 100 horses.
  • 2 stables to accommodate 1,400 sheep or goats below 30 kg. of weight or still 550 sheep/goats.
  • 1 stable to accommodate 1,100 sheep or goats below 30 kg. of weight or still 450 sheep/goats.

The premises destined to stabling also include:

  • 2 hay-boxes.
  • Tools and equipment.
  • Labour rooms for veterinary surveillance.

  • Restroom facilities and lounge for stable people.
